Led by the third generation, the Calabria family has grown the business from its Riverina origins into a nationally recognised winemaking operation, with vineyards and facilities now spanning New South Wales and South Australia’s Barossa Valley. From its humble beginnings in Griffith to Bill Calabria’s global vision, three generations have poured their heart and soul into every bottle, crafting wines built on passion, perseverance, and pride. As a proudly family owned winery, Calabria Family Wines remains deeply rooted in tradition while embracing innovation and continuous improvement.

What began as a single producer owned and operated winery has evolved into one of Australia’s largest family owned wine groups. This growth has been driven not only by the family’s own brand and winemaking operations, but also by the strategic acquisition of some of Australia’s most recognised wine brands and the expansion of a strong, diversified distribution arm.

In 2020, Calabria Family Wine Group acquired the well established Australian wine brand Deakin Estate from the Wingara Wine Group, part of Henkell Freixenet. This momentum continued in 2021, when the family made another transformative move with the acquisition of McWilliam’s Wines, one of Australia’s most historic and celebrated wine companies, taking over its winery operations, IP and distribution.

Since 2021, the group has further strengthened its premium credentials through a growing portfolio of Australian and international distribution partnerships, representing leading wine brands from New Zealand, Italy, Portugal, Argentina, France, and beyond. This has positioned the company as a major player in the domestic market, offering both deep category expertise and a world class portfolio for trade partners.

By 2026, Calabria Family Wine Group has established a true 360 degree model, combining winemaking, brand ownership, agency acquisitions to include House of Fine Wine, and national distribution capabilities.
